I’m working 7 hours a day as a programmer at a system vendor / hosting company in Nuremberg (yay for 3h commuting every day =P). For my first salary I bought myself a new PC for around EUR850.
Mainboard: Asus P5B-VM SE
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 (2.4GHz)
Fan: Scythe MINE 1100 (Rev B)
RAM: 4×512 MB Kingston
Power supply: Enermax PRO82+ 385W
HDD: 4×500GB WD5000ABPS and a backplane for them -> RAID5 :D
I’ve also exchanged the backplane’s fan (which was terribly noisy) for a SilenX IXTREMA 80×80x15mm fan, and added two 120mm fans (also SilenX) to the case. :)

Friedman’s “Black Sun Rising,” which is published by DAW Fantasy and I have to say that I’ve never seen this many typos in one single book. On the first 64 pages I found at least 5 typos and one grammar error - highlights include the misspelling of one of the characters’ names (Damien was written as Damian) and tee instead of tea. Typos are to be expected in a book that’s hundreds of pages long, and I don’t mind seeing a few in a book, but one every nine pages certainly way too much. It makes me wonder if they had a sudden editor shortage before they published the book or if DAW’s editors are simply lousy or lazy.
On the bright side, this edition is from 1994, so there might be a chance that the newer books have less errors…

I just finished my first project: a binary clock. It displays the time in three columns with six LEDs each, which show (from left to right) seconds, minutes and hours. The time can be set using two buttons.
I wrote the code all by myself, with occasional help from HK. The microcontroller I used is an ATmega8.

Might not be pretty, but at least it looks better than its backside - multiplexing LEDs is hell.

If you ask nicely I might just publish the code ;)
